Ocean Breeze School has a mixed aged model. How does this benefit your child?
- Multi age classrooms allow students to learn from each other. Older students are great at helping and explaining things to younger students. This builds self-confidence, leadership skills and empowers students.
- It is incredible for developing social skills as younger students observe how older students behave.
- Children develop at different rates and those differences can be very apparent when they are young. Mixed age play allows students to build self esteem and believe in themselves.
- In mixed-age classrooms, children are more likely to cooperate than compete. This spirit of cooperation and caring makes it possible for children to see each other as individuals as opposed to competitors.
These relationships allow younger classmates to observe older classmates in action. Older students learn valuable skills such as patience, teamwork, and perseverance. As a result, students’ learning is expanded by working with others who may often have different learning and world perspectives.
