Transitional Kindergarten prioritizes the developmental needs of 5 year old children. Our play-based curriculum, hands on activities and emerging curriculum, focuses on the social and emotional development of your children. TK students need added intellectual challenges and they crave responsibility, yet emotionally they are still developing and building their sense of themselves among their peers.
This class utilizes Pre-K Fundations and Zones of Regulation Curriculum. These curriculums are widely used in elementary schools in the surrounding communities. We use Fundations to help us focus on practicing letter names, their corresponding sounds and to help in learning to write upper and lowercase letters. We use Zones of Regulations to help students to identify how they are feeling, what they can do do feel better, and how to identify and solve their own problems. This is to help familiarize them with the curriculum they will see upon entering kindergarten.
Our Transitional Kindergarten program is specifically designed for children who are turning 5 during the summer yet may still benefit from an additional year before entering Kindergarten and for children with fall birthdays who have missed the kindergarten cut-off date. Students should be 5 years old by January for this program.
